About

Thermosticks began where the best partnerships often do; in someone else's country, over a conversation that kept coming back to the same idea.

Sticks Supply Company, based in Greenville, South Carolina, had been supplying custom-milled specialty lumber across the Southeast for years. Our travels took us to Mikkeli, a lake town in southeastern Finland, where we met the team at SWM Wood, a founding member of the International ThermoWood® Association and one of the original practitioners of the heat-and-steam process that turns ordinary Nordic softwood into a facade-grade material.

What struck us wasn't just the craft. It was the values. SWM Wood treats the process the way a good bakery treats its dough no chemicals, no shortcuts, just heat and steam and time. They care deeply about the forests the wood comes from, and equally about where it ends up.

What struck us second was the price gap. By the time Finnish Thermowood® reached a project in North America, it had passed through so many hands: importer, distributor, lumberyard, contractor markup that a simple residential facade could cost three times what the actual material was worth at the mill. We kept wondering why a material this good had to be this expensive. It didn't, really. It just required someone to do the boring work of closing the distance.

The partnership

So we did. Thermosticks® is a collaboration between Sticks Supply Co. and SWM Wood. SWM Wood treats the timber at their facility in Mikkeli to the full ThermoWood® Association Thermo-D and Thermally Modified Timber specifications. We receive it in Greenville and mill it to our own custom profiles the tongue-and-groove, rainscreen, decking, and interior profiles you'll find across this site using tooling that we designed ourselves.

The result is Finnish-treated, American-milled Thermowood delivered directly to your project. Same material. Same process. Roughly half the shelf price of the imported competition.

Where we are

Our mill and offices are at 304C Arcadia Drive in Greenville, SC. We ship across the United States and Canada, typically within two to four weeks of order. We're happy to host architects, designers, and contractors who want to see the material in person. Email sales@stickssupply.com to arrange a visit.

What we believe

That premium materials shouldn't require premium bureaucracy. That the architect drawing a residential facade in Vermont and the builder framing a sauna in Ontario deserve the same direct access to the mill as a Nordic contractor does. That it's possible to be a quiet brand in a loud industry and still be taken seriously. And that the best thing you can do with a piece of real wood is get out of its way.

Heat and steam. Nothing else.
