Why aspen for sauna
Aspen is the traditional choice of Finnish sauna builders. It has the lowest thermal conductivity of any readily available softwood — meaning benches remain comfortable even at 90 °C / 195 °F air temperatures. It's knot-light, splinter-free, and does not leach resin under heat.
